The *free* price tag on this
very short story sucked me in. Otherwise, I would have passed it up. The blurb sounded interesting, but the writing didn't deliver. It's written in 1st person, a personal pet-peeve of mine when it comes to romance. I
need to know what's happening in both the H/h's heads.
Turns out, 1st person had to be the only way to write this one because it really is the shortest story I've ever read; taking less than 20 minutes for me to breeze through it. There's no backstory or character development or anything other than a girl doing a really out-of-character (so we're told) thing. The only thing I do like about this story is that there were very few spelling mistakes.
My 2nd pet-peeve is lame book covers! I believe romance and erotica (especially) gets a bum-wrap for being housewife porn because of some of the most ridiculous covers ever. It makes me cringe seeing this cover!
Despite everything, there were traces --
traces -- of an intriguing author's voice. I'd love to read something by this author that I can really sink my teeth into. Something where I can get a feel for her style.
